Devon is braced for the summer season, as thousands of visitors are expected to come and explore the beautiful countryside and coastline that surrounds us.  According to a report from the Office for National Statistics the tourism industry is worth almost £127 billion pounds every year to the UK economy, which is equivalent to 9% of the country’s GDP (gross domestic product).

Landlord of The Globe Inn, John Horsley, said: “It is an incredibly busy time for us, with an increase in room bookings, dinner guests, takeaways and people just popping in for a drink.  This year we have invested in brand new staff uniforms, extra training and we have just recently launched our new seasonal menu, which is already getting great feedback.”

Staff at The Globe Inn have also been given training on how to make speciality coffees and have worked with the fantastic Voyager Coffee, who are based at Buckfastleigh.

John continued: “It’s also a busy few months for us with lots of events being planned; these include the Frogmore Regatta, our BBQ nights and of course some great live music.  Our takeaway menu isalso up and running, which is a great option for anyone staying on local campsites or who enjoy an evening on the beach.

“We can offer fish and chips, homemade pizzas which are produced using locally prepared dough, our curry of the day and our popular Globe burger.”

The Frogmore Regatta is a great example of one of our local community events, the team from The Globe Inn are delighted to be providing the bar for the event, which last year saw almost two thousand visitors.

John concluded: “We are lucky to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and we are ideally situated for anyone looking for a place to stay or to grab some good food, which has been created using as many local ingredients as possible.”
