Meet our Chef

Chris loves to cook with sea food...

Following the launch of our fantastic new menu, we thought it was time that we acknowledged the hard work and dedication of our kitchen team, headed up by Chris Hannaford.  Chris has been at The Globe Inn since March 2016 and has helped to design the current menu.

“I was inspired into cooking by my mother, but not because she was a good cook – In fact she was pretty bad” said Chris.  “When I was a teenager I helped at one of my local hotels working in the kitchen over the summer and that was the starting point for me, I fell in love with food and the ability to combine flavours.  I then moved to France in my early twenties where I officially trained to be a chef.”

Chris believes that the key to quality food is good ingredients, all sourced from local and sustainable producers.  Chris continues: “We are extremely lucky at The Globe Inn; we are surrounded by dozens of high quality producers, from fishermen, farmers, bakers and butchers all of whom take immense pride in providing high quality goods.

“I particularly like working with our fishermen and fishmongers to discover what they have caught, because I love seafood and it is my favourite thing to cook.”

Landlord at The Globe Inn, John Horsley, added: “We are extremely proud of Chris and the work he has put into our kitchen and our new menu.  We are passionate about sustainability and that’s why you will always find seasonal produce on our menu along with the best of British pub food.”
