Did the holiday season derail your diet plans? It did ours, and it was worth every delicious bite! So as our clothing feels just a wee bit more snug, it’s time to get cracking on with eating lighter.

The Globe Inn offers tasty, homemade dishes throughout the day that make the most of the glorious local produce available to us. We do believe that eating out is a treat to enjoy and sometimes that means indulgences. But we’ve always prided ourselves on offering healthy options on our menus. So you can still enjoying yummy foods with our choice of delicious and (almost) guilt-free dishes:

  • We know that buffet tables can sometimes interfere with the best diet intentions, but be strong and stick to the healthy bits we offer such as fresh yogurt, fruit, cereals, and brown toast. You can also swap the sausage and bacon for lean ham too!
  • Enjoy a delightful eggs dish with baked beans, tomato and mushrooms, but skip the bacon and sausage. Why not try your eggs poached instead of fried?
  • We all love eggs benedict! Order it with lean ham or salmon and give it a go without the Hollandaise sauce for a super healthy start to your day.

  • Did you know that we have a range of delectable baguette sandwiches? With mouth-watering fillings that include cheddar & pickle, home cooked ham & mustard, smoked salmon & cucumber, prawn & marie rose, we have range options to leave you feeling full enough to avoid the temptations of the snack cupboard.
  • Or, you could enjoy marinated olives, homemade hummus with pitta and a bowl of freshly made soup?
  • Salad is not known to be the most exciting lunch, but we think our salads might change your mind. Try baked beetroot, goats cheese, orange and candied hazelnuts, or smoked salmon, prawn & Salcombe crab (caught locally of course) salad with a moreish marie rose dressing.

  • Order our scrumptious beef burger with home dried tomatoes, gherkin & red onion, but lighten it up by swapping the bun for extra salad and passing on the chips (be strong, we know it’s not easy to pass on the chips!)
  • If you just can’t say no to our outstanding Chargrilled 8oz Durrants Ribeye Steak (not many are able to!) then tuck in. To make it a lighter option, order it without the onions rings and chips and opt for extra salad instead.
  • Our Globe Meat Feast pizza is lovely if we do say so ourselves but if cutting back on red meat is one of your diet strategies then go with our Margherita Pizza instead. Or, how about the Italian Garden topped with peppers, mushrooms, olives and artichokes, or the Seafood Fiesta with prawns, anchovies, tuna and capers?

In addition to choosing lighter menu items, walking is a sure way to help you burn a few unwanted inches from your waistline.

Before or after dining with us, enjoy a brisk walk on one of our suggested scenic routes where you can take in the unspoilt landscapes, striking views and outstanding natural beauty of the South Devon countryside.

New year, new me? Easy!
